TEXO Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization supporting the construction members of TEXO in their workforce development efforts. In 2017, the Foundation established a board of directors to help set a vision to begin tackling the current construction labor shortage and encouraging the best and brightest students to pursue careers in construction. The organization has three main focus areas for outreach – high school, college, and the community.

MISSION:

To educate, recruit, train, and retain the next generation of construction professionals.

High School Outreach Committee

High school outreach focuses on creating pipelines within high schools via advisory councils, classroom presentations, construction awareness events, and scholarships to encourage careers in construction and skilled trades.

College Outreach Committee

College outreach focuses on building relationships with colleges and universities that have accredited construction programs, including the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 5, as well as administering scholarships and grants.

Community Outreach Committee

Community outreach is a new area of focus for the Foundation and will primarily focus on encouraging veterans, parolees, individuals looking to change careers, and others to join the construction industry.

ASC Region 5 | TEXO Foundation Student Competition

Each year, TEXO Foundation and Associated Schools of Construction Region 5 team up and host the Student Competition. Teams of students from 4 states compete against each other using member companies’ construction projects to show their skill and interest in careers in construction. Students compete in three divisions: heavy civil, commercial, and design-build. This event allows industry professionals to meet the brightest college students and future recruits.

Scholarships and Grants

The TEXO Foundation raises funds to support the construction industry through the generous support of TEXO members. Our goal is that, through university support via scholarships and grants, high quality employees will be attracted to the Dallas/Fort Worth construction market.

Students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships on an annual basis. After receiving the applications, the Foundation reviews the applications and determines which students will receive an opportunity to interview for a scholarship. Many factors weigh into the decision of awarding scholarships, and we take time to visit with the candidates in a panel-style interview via Skype.
