TEXO Government Affairs works to expand opportunities for the commercial construction industry and reduce the cost of doing business across North and East Texas. Through informed, credible advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels, TEXO helps policymakers understand how their decisions affect contractors, the construction workforce, and the communities our members build. By engaging members in the policymaking process, TEXO provides the industry with a unified, respected, and influential voice.
Local Government
TEXO addresses industry issues with city and county governments, school districts, transit authorities, and other government entities. We maintain a presence and voice in determining local regulations dealing with codes, policies, ordinances, inspections, laws, fees, contracts and documents, and payment issues. We also assist members in resolving issues between the management and staff of public agencies and boards, as well as elected officials. Local government activities are managed by our Vice President of Governmental Affairs.
State Government
TEXO has an active presence with both the State Legislature and state agencies by working in conjunction with the AGC-Texas Building Branch and the ABC of Texas, who maintain offices in Austin. Both associations maintain a staff of professional government relations individuals who work together to create “one voice and one message” at our state capitol and its agencies. The purpose is to effectively advocate positions on proposed new laws or rules while maintaining positive relationships with elected and appointed state officials.
Federal Government
AGC of America and National ABC are two of the most credible and respected advocates for the construction industry before Congress, the executive branch, and within the federal court system. We work in conjunction with the national ABC and AGC chapters on federal issues and, when needed, use the combined effective strength our members bring on these matters.

The TEXO Political Action Committee (PAC) collects voluntary contributions from concerned contractors and service provider members for use in making political contributions to candidates running for state and local political positions. This effort is essential and necessary to ensure that the interests of our industry are represented.
Our Vice President of Governmental Affairs Travis Reynolds, in conjunction with representatives from AGC-Texas Building Branch, ABC National, and AGC National, is constantly tracking current legislative changes in order to communicate, comprehend, and represent your interests in government policies. We consistently lobby on the behalf of our members in both state and federal legislative issues.
Our Governmental Affairs Committee meets on a monthly basis to discuss current legislative concerns in order to advocate on a local, state, and national level for the construction industry.
TEXO frequently travels to the State Capitol to meet with representatives. In addition, we participate in the AGC and ABC Legislative Conferences and Meet Your Senator & Representative events.
