TEXO members are unique in the fact that they are members of the two largest and most influential national construction industry associations in the world: the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). Via these national memberships, TEXO members have access to world-class industry communication and training, best practices relative to safety, insurance, cost-saving purchasing programs helping them reduce costs on projects, and processes and services that assure construction owners a quality, safe and cost effective project. Both ABC and AGC promote the values of safety, quality, integrity and ethics within the construction industry. It is through this partnership that TEXO is able to unify, advocate and advance the construction industry in North and East Texas. Below are reasons the power of two is great than one.

Associated Builders and Contractors is a national construction industry trade association established in 1950 that represents more than 23,000 members. Founded on the merit shop philosophy, ABC and its 68 chapters help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically and profitably for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.

Politics and policy

ABC actively works with all levels of government to represent member interests and the merit shop construction industry.

ABC delivers programs that equip craft professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to improve their productivity and safety, and advance their careers.

ABC offers tools to help its members develop business opportunities and promote company achievements and capabilities to potential clients. Resources include business leads, construction referrals and information for green building initiatives and awards programs.

ABC’s safety programs and products help members maintain safer and more productive jobsites, one of the construction industry’s most critical needs. In addition to training resources, ABC provides members with the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) guide – the industry’s leading safety evaluation program.

ABC provides a wealth of resources to assist contractors in staying current with the industry-related information they need to make informed business decisions.

The ABC Merit Choice® insurance program encompasses both an insurance agency and an association-based insurance trust. ABC Merit Choice exclusively serves members with insurance and fringe benefit solutions such as benefit programs, incentive-based programs, health and welfare programs, and related services.

AGC is dedicated the furthering the ever-changing agenda of commercial construction contractors, improving job site safety, expanding the use of cutting-edge technologies and techniques, and strengthening the dialogue between contractors and owners.

AGC provides valuable member resources such as weekly national and regional updates on construction material and in-person accessibility to the chief economist, who serves as the industry’s media expert.

For more than a decade, AGC has partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop compliance assistance tools to help the construction industry better understand and more efficiently comply with environmental requirements. AGC’s exclusive Environmental Network helps contractors keep pace with the latest environmental developments and invites its members to participate in policymaking on environmental matters.

AGC provides a range of valuable products and services, including: professional development courses like the Supervisory Training Program (STP), the Project Manager Development Program (PMDP), and Building Information Modeling Education Program; ConsensusDOCS; safety and health training resources; and conventions, meetings, audio conferences, and webinars on the industry’s hottest issues.

AGC is committed to realizing the legislative priorities facing the commercial construction industry and growing the construction economy. AGC’s Legislative Action Committee sets our legislative priorities and serves as the regulatory clearinghouse, while ensuring that AGC members have a voice in drafting AGC’s policy agenda.

AGC members are kept up to date with a variety of industry-specific resources delivered directly to your desktop.
